Hello to all of my Legion Friends.

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather. It seems like it took forever to get warm but it’s here now!!

First, I would like to thank everyone who helped with the Gambling transition. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Everything is coming along very well so far. We have a loaner booth that should be adequate for now. The V/F/W is working on a new built-in booth and we will be back to normal soon.

The Honor Guard is doing a great job and representing our Post with Honor. Thanks Guys.

The Rider group is finally getting the dust off their bikes. We’ve been on a few rides this spring and planning an overnight ride to Galena Il. By the time you read this we should be back.

Well, Thanks to everyone for supporting Post 112 and have a happy and healthy summer.

*Together we can *

Vaughn Smith,

Commander Post 112

1st Vice Commander

Welcome to Larry Collins who has accepted the office of 1st Vice Commander.

Adjutant

I’m rushing to write this article to beat the deadline. I spent most of today helping find and move a Gambling booth to replace the temporary one we have been using since the VFW took over our gambling operation. Please bear with us on this endeavor as we hope the new relationship will be beneficial for both organizations. I would also like to thank the Zimmerman Fire Department for the years they partnered with us.

Memorial Day was a busy day for the post and our flag day ceremony will be over by the time you read this. The honor guard also presented the colors at the Rogers High School Graduation. We are working with some new honor guard members, Larry Collins has now participated in a few missions, and we hope to suit up Dave Delong soon, Speaking of Larry Collins, I would like to introduce him as our new 1 st Vice Commander. He was sworn in at the June Membership meeting. I hope to write a member profile article about him in the near future to let everyone know what a great guy he is.

As always good place to learn how to be part of the team would be to come to our donuts with the commanders on Saturday mornings at 8:30. It’s a good way to meet people and see what’s going on. A group of us also get together for supper and the meat raffle on Friday nights. Everyone is welcome There are lots of things going on at the post so keep watching our ads on Facebook and check out the new website for details. https://www.elkriverlegion112.com

Stop on by the post to say hello and sign the book.

Gregory Crow (G2)

All faith traditions and beliefs were welcomed. Each 1 hour and 45-minute weekly session involved: 1) a food & beverage Meet and Greet, 2) Speaker, and 3) small group discussion which included sharing of viewpoints and connection within a “safe” environment. 4 reported confessing Jesus as their Lord and Savior and 2 committed rededications. Other results are currently being processed and evaluated. Magnus Leadership reported this was “likely” the most attended and supported event over this length of time in their history. Praise the LORD!

2nd Vice Commander

Greetings Legion Members,

I hope all is going well for you and yours.

On almost a daily basis I check for mail, blow away dirt from the front door and patio area.

I have mowed the green stuff and weed whipped on the south side of the building toward the street. I sprayed dandelions and applied fertilizer with weed control earlier this spring.

I have made several trips to the bank, post office, or store.

We now have two mail boxes for mail. One is for incoming mail and one for outgoing mail. It will save many trips to the post office.

I have installed ceramic wall tile by the south door going into Commanders Hall. It had been missing for quite some time. I sanded and re-stained the wood on the bottom of the display cases.

I have been out on the south side of the building by the front door spraying for weeds, pulling for weeds, and hoeing weeds. It is a constant battle.

I was in the shed putting many bags of flags into eight garbage containers getting ready for flag disposal on June 14th.

There's always some to fix, replace, or repair at the Legion.

Keith Quammen

2nd Vice Commander

S.A.L.

Working with the Legionnaire with different projects such as organizing a cherry picker to get the top of the flag pole at the post and veteran’s park. Repairing and replacing flags.
