Commander

Hello Legion Family,

It’s time for another newsletter. I am waiting for the weather to cooperate so I can get out and ride my motorcycle with all of my friends and comrades. The feeling it gives me is freedom and that is the reason we do what we do. I thank God for everything, but I thank all Veterans past, present and future for our freedom.

The American Legion has four pillars that we focus on when we make decisions for our Post. And they are:

  1. Veteran Affairs & Rehabilitation

  2. National Security

  3. Americanism

  4. Children & Youth

I am very proud of our very loyal volunteers and staff for their hard work and efforts in accomplishing our goals.

Vaughn Smith,

Commander Post 112

1st Vice Commander

Adjutant

Memorial Day is right around the corner and The Honor Guard is always looking for a few good Men [and Women] to fill out our Team so if you might be interested let us know. It’s a very rewarding experience and doesn’t take as much time as you think.

If you haven’t paid your membership dues please do so. We are coming closer to reaching our goal of 310 for the year. And thanks again to Bill Stevenson for his tireless work as the membership director. Bill and I get membership messages at least once a week from the District or Department on our progress or lack of progress. Remember it’s our members that keep us strong.

As always good place to learn how to be part of the team would be to come to our donuts with the commanders on Saturday mornings at 8:30. It’s a good way to meet people and see what’s going on. A group of us also get together for supper and the meat raffle on Friday nights. Everyone is welcome. There are lots of things going on at the post so keep watching our ads on Facebook and

check out the new website for details.

Stop on by the post to say hello and sign the book.

Gregory Crow (G2)

Post Adjutant

PS. You have until fall to buy a classic car or hot rod for our Car show-Sock hop in September.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you Mike Leistico, Mike Sampson, Todd Jagodzinski, Paul Novotny and several other SAL members that have helped with the Lent Fish Fry. Your help is greatly appreciated and we can’t do it

without you all.

Legion Riders

It has been a quiet early spring for the riders. Some of us have taken very short trips to the local Dairy Queen on a warm day. Others have only put their tabs on the license plates and started the bikes in the garage to hear the roar of the pipes. As I type this snow is falling and it will be warm in about a week.

During these last few Winter months our members have been busy hosting breakfasts with the High

School Trap Team and the Legion Baseball team. Many riders were helping with the Friday Fish Fry and attending the Post meetings that are essential to run this organization.

The Riders are looking forward to the National Commanders visit on April 22 and at least three Annual fundraising riders in the next few weeks. One ride that is well attended and well run is a ride

for Magnus on May 9th. We also have a Blessing of the bikes on the schedule for May 16th at the

Monticello VFW. On another scheduled ride the Post 112 Riders will be assisting the Zimmerman Legion Riders as Road Guards on their annual Veterans ride on June 7th. The certified Road Guards are assigned specific duties to direct traffic and help make the larger rides safer. If you see a large number of motorcycles in a group chances are good that they are on a fundraising mission. Post 112 Riders focus our rides for veterans and their families in need and or have medical issues after their service for our country.

Please remember the brave men and women that are currently deployed in and near Iran.

Todd Jagodzinski, Riders Director
