Tom Kulkay has resigned from the position as Commander; his recovery is not going as he had hoped. We continue to pray for his recovery.
1st Vice Commander
Hello Legion Family and Friends,
We made it through another Fair Season. We have an awesome group of volunteers that we can’t thank enough. Thank you to everyone. Thank you to Ann for all of her work and making sure our bills are getting paid on time.
Our Manger Lisa is doing a fantastic job with our staff and dealing with vendors and the overall function of our post as a business.
Rib Fest is coming on Saturday October 4th. Let Todd or me know if you would like to help in any way or show up and help support this event. Lisa has a list of Posts that have already registered to compete.
The patio furniture from Home Depot is a hit. We also replaced all of the lights in the Post with LED lights. Thank you to all the Associates from Home Depot that did most of the work. Also, thanks goes to Keith, Greg Crow, Shawn and Bill for their time and expertise.
That's all for now. Take care and be safe.

Adjutant
Summer is flying by:
Hello Everyone. I will start by expressing our deep sadness after the untimely loss of Sharon Mendenhall. It took us all by surprise and she will be greatly missed. We all hope for the best for Tom as he works through this time of sorrow.
And now for the project that has taken up many people’s time, the front door to our building. It’s been installed and looks great. The addition of the handicap opener was long overdue. Keith and Vaughn are heading up this project along with several other building improvements. All the Hall lights have been converted to LED and we need to thank Home Depot for their help.
By the time you read this the Smokin Tractor pull beer tent and the Sherburne County Fair Beer tent events will be history. We can’t thank all the helpers enough. These are some of our key Legion events that help support our budget. The next event we are planning is the Ribfest in Oct. If you would like to, help sign up at the bar. There are a lot of moving parts to make it happen.
Again, I need to thank all the members of The Honor Guard for everything they have done funerals and sporting events. They recently helped with the dedication of a Civil War soldier at Orono Cemetery. The Honor Guard is always looking for a few good Men [and Women] to fill our ranks so if you might be interested let us know. On that note we would like to welcome Clarissa McNew our newest and maybe first female honor guard member. It’s a very rewarding experience and doesn’t take as much time as you think.
Our Membership for 2025 reached our goal of 307plus 2. And almost immediately we started our 2026 membership drive. As a reward for our hard work our new goal is 310. It’s our members that keep us strong.
As always good place to learn how to get involved would be to come to our donuts with the commanders on Saturday mornings at 8:30. It’s a good way to meet people and see what’s going on.
We wish Commander Tom all the best as he continues to recover from his knee surgery.
Stop on by the post to say hello and sign the book.

Riders
Greetings from the Post 112 Riders. We are excited about our upcoming Ribfest on October 4th. We worked hard for the first Ribfest last year with a big assist from members of the Zimmerman Legion and they will be helping us again this year. Our Bar Manager Lisa has already been working on our permits from the city to have this event outside and we will be using different fencing that will be borrowed from the County Fair. There will be another adult beverage wagon raffle and other games throughout the day. Put this date on the calendar and The Riders are also participating in a Ducks Unlimited (DU) raffle that includes firearms and many other recreational prizes. D U has set up raffles for two winners to be picked after 120 tickets are sold and then we start another 120 tickets to pick two more winners. This is a great change from other raffles that sell a large number of tickets and the drawing is out a few months from the purchase. The Riders have completed one set of tickets with two winners. The Riders will be selling the D U tickets in the upcoming weeks on Friday evenings.
This November 2nd the riders will be having our November breakfast and partnering with the Elk River High Trap Shooting Team. This is a couple weeks earlier than our regular third Sunday for the Breakfast. We wanted to have this event before the Minnesota deer opener. This breakfast will regular third Sunday for the Breakfast. We wanted to have this event before the Minnesota deer opener. This breakfast will have our regular Bingo and include a silent auctions and probable raffles for hunting and outdoor items. The Riders are looking forward to this inaugural event to work with another community organization. The Riders have worked with the Legion Baseball Team the last two January breakfasts and are scheduled to work with them in January 2026.
Some of the Riders participated in a IGYSix ride out of the St. Francis Legion in July. A few of our riders were also out in Sturgis this year. A few of us are able to ride in the Black Hills every year. The sights, sounds and motorcycle community never disappoints.
